In the tradition of Gospel churches the main space is as much a place for performance as well as worship. The underside of this space contains a nursery and a sizeable café - reinforcing the atmosphere and role of the church as a community centre.

Part of the borough of Incheon Northwest of Seoul and very close to the DMZ, Ganghwa Island is a community that enjoys dairy farming and rice production. The site is on the edge of the old village (though creeping suburbanisation is not too far away).

The design is inspired by the lines of the vegetables and rice running round much of the site. The plan form symbolically catches these striations and drops symbolic elements (such as the pulpit) into them : thus creating ripples.
